Help
Everything you need to get the most out of 70.3 Buildup.
What this app is
70.3 Buildup is a mobile-first training tracker for any Ironman 70.3 race. Pick your race on the Race & plan page and the 40-week schedule is built backwards from race day, counting down as you go.
Both plans are 240 trackable swim, bike, run and brick sessions across 40 weeks. Rest days are not counted. Your job is simple: do the work, tap the checkmark, and watch the progress bar move.
Choosing your race and plan
Tap Race & plan in the header to pick from the full Ironman 70.3 calendar. The 40-week schedule is then counted back from that race date, so week 1 starts exactly 39 weeks and 6 days before race morning.
- First-timer plan — for athletes with little or no swim and bike background. Builds from very short sessions with technique as the priority.
- Experienced plan — for athletes who already swim, ride and run. Higher volume with threshold, sweet-spot and race-pace work from earlier in the block.
Progress and session logs are stored per race, so switching races never erases what you already recorded — switch back and your old ticks and times are still there.
Reading the plan
- Today card — the blue box at the top shows today's session for the current plan week. Before the plan starts it shows a countdown to day one. After race day it reads "Race complete."
- Progress bar — "X of 240 sessions done" plus the percentage. Only completed training sessions count; rest days do not.
- Phases — tap a phase chip (Foundation, Base, Build 1, Build 2, Peak, Taper, Race Week) to jump to that part of the plan.
- Week cards — the current week is expanded and outlined. Tap any other week to expand it. Each card shows the week number, date range, total hours, tags, and a "N/7 done" count.
- Session rows — day and sport label are color-coded: swim blue, bike amber, run red, rest grey, race teal. Tap a row to mark it done. Rest rows are not tappable. Saturday rides may show a "Brick: +Nmin run off the bike" badge.
- Before you start — expand the notes for advice on gear, pacing, and race-week prep.
Session log
Tap Session log in the header to record what you actually did. Pick any week, then enter real minutes, distance, and notes for each session.
- Distance units are meters for swim and kilometers for bike/run/race.
- Each logged row shows a on plan, +5min, or -5min delta against the planned duration.
- The week summary compares total planned hours against actual hours for the sessions you logged.
- The all-time "% of plan" figure compares your logged minutes to the planned minutes of the same logged sessions.
Crews: train with other people
Crew lets two or more 70.3 athletes share progress and cheer each other on. Everything in a crew is private to its members.
- Create a crew — give it a name and get a 6-character invite code.
- Join a crew — tap the Crew button, choose "Join with a code," and enter the 6-character code. Codes use uppercase letters and numbers (0, O, 1 and I are skipped to avoid confusion).
- Invite links — copy the invite link and send it to a training partner. If they are already signed in, the link adds them automatically. If not, it waits for them to sign in first.
- Member stats — see each member's completed sessions out of 240, their percent done, current streak, and last completed session time. You always appear first.
- Feed — newest posts first. Session posts appear automatically when a member marks a session done. Anyone can post a short note or a single emoji. Tap an emoji reaction chip to add or remove your reaction.
- Live updates — the feed updates in real time when someone posts or reacts. If you go offline, the composer disables and the feed shows the last loaded state.
- Leave a crew — use the "Leave crew" button at the bottom of a crew page. You can belong to more than one crew and switch between them.
Sign in and sync
You do not need an account to use the app. Progress is saved on your device first. Sign in when you want it to sync across iPhone, iPad, Mac, or any browser.
- Google — tap "Sign in to sync" then "Continue with Google." Fastest on mobile.
- Email — enter your email and a password. If you sign up, check your inbox for a confirmation link, then sign in.
- First sign-in — any progress already on the device is merged into your account. Your local data stays as an offline cache.
- Offline — keep marking sessions and logging times while offline. The app queues changes and syncs them when you are back online.
- Sign out — your local data remains on the device. The next sign-in will merge it again if it is newer than the server state.
Tips and extras
- Goal pill — the tappable pill next to your race name defaults to "Sub-6:00." Tap it to set your own goal. It saves per device.
- Daily quote — the pastel-red banner above the Today card shows a new action-movie or superhero quote each day and fades away after 15 seconds.
- Add to Home Screen — 70.3 Buildup is a PWA. On iPhone, tap the share button in Safari and choose "Add to Home Screen" to use it like a native app.
- Reset all progress — at the bottom of the plan page. You must confirm, and it clears both local and synced progress for the signed-in account.
Privacy
Your training data belongs to you. Session progress and logs are tied to your account and protected by row-level security, which means no other user can read them. Crew data is only visible to members of that crew.
